Privacy Policy for OweMate

Overview

OweMate is a personal, local-first memo for tracking money you lend, borrow, repay, and personal favors. This Privacy Policy explains how OweMate handles information when you use the App.

No Account or Network Service

OweMate does not require an account or sign-in. The App does not operate a developer-managed server and does not upload your records to Deepoke or any other service.

OweMate does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, third-party tracking, or behavioral profiling.

Information You Enter

You may enter relationship names, notes, amounts, dates, record types, and other information needed to manage your own records. This information is stored locally on your device so that the App can calculate balances and display your records.

The information you enter is not collected by Deepoke and is not used for advertising, analytics, or user profiling.

Device Storage and App Group Data

OweMate stores its local data on your device. The Widget and Share Extension may use the App Group shared by the OweMate targets to read a local widget snapshot or hold a pending image import. This shared data remains on your device and is not sent to a Deepoke server.

When the Widget privacy setting is disabled, the Widget hides relationship names and amounts while OweMate is locked. You control this setting in the App.

Face ID and Device Authentication

If you enable App Lock, OweMate uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework to ask for Face ID or device authentication. OweMate receives only the authentication result. It cannot access, store, or transmit your biometric data or device passcode.

Share Extension

You can share a transfer image to OweMate from another App. The Share Extension stores a local copy in the OweMate App Group and opens OweMate so you can use the image as a reference while entering a record. OweMate does not perform OCR or upload the image. The pending image remains in this local App Group until the record is saved or OweMate is uninstalled.

Backups and Imports

OweMate can create a JSON backup file and use Apple's share sheet to let you save or send it. This happens only after you choose the export action. Once a file is shared outside OweMate, the destination you choose—such as Files, AirDrop, or another App—controls how that copy is handled.

Importing a backup reads the file locally and merges valid records into OweMate. OweMate does not upload imported files.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your local records remain on your device until you edit or delete them, clear the App's data, or uninstall OweMate. Copies that you deliberately export or include in an operating-system backup may remain outside the App according to the storage or backup service you choose.

Third-Party Services

OweMate does not send your records to third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or cloud-sync services. Apple system services such as Face ID, the Files app, the share sheet, and App Store distribution are governed by Apple's own terms and privacy practices.

Children's Privacy

OweMate does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not require an account and does not transmit records to a server, use of the App remains local to the device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when OweMate's data practices change or when clarification is needed. The version, effective date, and updated date shown at the top of this page identify the applicable version.

Terms of Use

Use of OweMate is also subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
